Community Outreach Housing Information and Referral - Maintains a database of affordable housing resources in Monmouth County, NJ. The Alliance prescreens applicants for local housing agencies, and provides clients assistance with moving, applications for public assistance, housing selection, financial management, and locating social services. Also, assists clients in securing home furnishings, appliances, and other household needs.

Step Up Magazine - Step Up to Affordable Housing Magazine was created to provide consumer friendly housing information to low- and moderate-income families. Today, 10,000 copies are distributed bi-monthly to 235 locations throughout the county. - (the official Monmouth Housing Alliance website) was created in 1999 by volunteers to broaden the dissemination of housing information to residents of Monmouth County. Today 12,000 people a month visit our website.

HOPWA The Salvation Army's HOPWA Program operates in connection with our HIV/AIDS program services. This program provides short-term rental and emergency utility assistance. In addition, our Housing Information Specialist provides services to prevent homelessness and meet the housing needs of low-income persons with HIV/AIDS. Housing Information and Referral Housing Information and Referral provides personal service to those needing housing and other special needs that will help a person to become a responsible tenant or homeowner. A database of all affordable housing units, group homes, rooming houses, and senior housing in Monmouth County was compiled and is kept current so that clients' have a clear and accessible housing resource to help them find safe and decent living options most likely to meet their specific needs.

While the Alliance is not a clinical service provider, it does recognize the special needs of low income families, the frail elderly and disabled persons, and welcomes the opportunity to provide clients assistance in negotiating the often confusing maze of supportive services through contracts and referral agreements with other agencies. The Alliance provides clients assistance with applications for public assistance, housing selection and financial management, and assists clients in locating social services. We also provide quality affordable office space to other nonprofit agencies.

Housing Management The Alliance has successfully financed and developed over 260 units throughout Monmouth County. It maintains a rental portfolio of 220 units and has successfully worked with several municipalities to develop a low impact rental option to their affordable housing plans. Housing Resource Center Housing Resource Center: MECHA offers housing locator services, education, and training on issues such as tenantsí rights and responsibilities, opportunities and trends in homeownership (pre and post-mortgage), technical assistance and counseling with financial problems, i.e. foreclosures, etc. In addition, we serve as advocates for the individual and assist with utilities issues, at times providing funding subsidies.

Residential Services BCBSS social workers are mandated to respond to all complaints made by a resident or on behalf of a resident who is in an abusive, neglectful or exploitive situation. Findings of these investigations are reported to the appropriate licensing entity (Department of Community Affairs or the Department of Health). Follow-up services are offered as necessary to ensure the health and safety of the resident.

BCBSS social workers provide outreach and follow up services to residents of all facilities on a periodic basis. These services include but are not limited to: case management, placement services, counseling and the arrangement of medical and/or social services available in the community.

St. Clare's Housing Program Committed to finding family-based solutions to problems associated with the HIV epidemic, in 1993 ARFC began providing housing support to families coping with the AIDS virus. St. Lucy's Services to the Homeless-Catholic Charities A supervised 24/7, year-round emergency shelter facility for single women and men offering emergency housing and food. Individuals are offered a 45-day stay. Within the first two weeks, clients meet with staff to assess their current situation. Job Developer on staff. Self Help groups include Psychoeducational groups and Life Skills Training.
